Anti-Racism Training

 September 16, 2017,
Saturday, 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.
West Chelmsford UMC
The West Chelmsford United Methodist Church is excited to host an
Anti-racism training open to the religious institutions of the towns
of Chelmsford, Tyngsboro and Westford.

This is a timely study considering the increase of racially charged talk and incidents both during the recent presidential campaign and community/ police conflicts.
Experienced trainers from Community Change, Inc. of Boston will be leading this program. This organization has been educating and organizing for Racial Equality for 49 years. We will be looking at the historical and continuing racist social, legal and governmental policies in the United States that have benefited white people and have both openly and subtly continued to discriminate against people of color.   This has produced a system of advantage for white people who benefit from privilege at the expense of people of color.
This systemic/institutionalized racism is often or mostly unknown by the
majority of white Americans, to the point of seeming invisibile.
This training opportunity will allow our community to learn about and discuss how to address these issues in our own lives and communities and how to
begin to enact change.

To attend, please RSVP to WCUMC at 978-215-4834 by Tuesday, September 12.
*There is no cost to attend, but a donation for the provided lunch will be
requested at that time.
